Deadstock 1970s to 80s Flower Applique Wrap Skirt The Frog Pond
I’ve found ads for these from the late 70’s through the early 80s (attached ad from the Kansas City Star dates to 05/14/78)
This is a Deadstock/ NOS item with the original hangtag in tact.
Fabricated in a 50/50% poly/cotton blend off-white /unbleached muslin
Trimmed in a purple poly grossgrain ribbon that also ties at the waist
Wrap style skirt with a velcro closure at the waist.
Machine embroidered appliqued flowers with solid, gingham and pin dot fabrics
1.5” hem (cannot be lt down due to embroidery)
Maker: The Frog Pond, Atlanta, GA
Hangtag reads “This item was individually handcrafted in the Cottage Industry tradition”.
Condition: Very good/Excellent. This is a deadstock item with the original hangtag still attached. I removed the hangtag to give it a gentle soak and replaced it when dried. See photos. Arrives clean and ready to wear.
Measurements: The measurements below are the actual measurements of the garment. Please allow for ease. Whenever possible the best way to insure a good fit is by comparing the measurements to that of a similar garment in your closet.
Vintage Size: Medium. Looks to best suit a modern S/M . Please use measurements below.
Waist: 28.5” ( this is a wrap and fastens with velcro, so it could easily be adjusted + or - an 1”)
11” overlap at waist to wrap
Hips: 46” seam to seam (8.5” below waistband)
Sweep: 65”
1.5” wide waistband
Length: 27” below waistband
Model is 5’3” with a 31” Bust, 25.5” waist and 36” low hip
Has been clipped on model at the waist.
