1970s Hanae Mori Silk Chiffon Maxi Dress
This is a two layer piece, fabricated in a diaphanous blue silk chiffon with the loveliest floral print and an opaque silk twill underlayer in the same print giving a fluid ripple effect when moving.
Fully lined in silk habotai
Sheer high neck clean finished with a corded self binding that neck ties in the back
The underlay has a deep V-neckline
Unlined full length flared sleeves open at the elbow
The underlayer is fitted with bust darts and princess seams, white the over layer is cut in a solid seamless panel.
An inverted box pleat at center back adds fullness and flow.
The underlayer fastens down center back with a hand set invisible zipper and a hook and thread covered eye, while the chiffon over layer fastens with tiny silk covered snaps down the hand rolled edge.
The outer layer hem is hand rolled and the under layer has a 2.5” hem clean finished into the lining.
The interior seams are flat lined and hand finished.
Maker: Hanae Mori
Condition: Good/Very good. There is a visible watermark on the front right skirt panel around high hip level that did not lift in the spot treatments or cleaning. A few very faint marks to the top chiffon layer that will go unnoticed when wearing due to the 2-layer print technique. See photos. Freshly dry cleaned, arrives clean and ready to wear.
