1920s to 30s French Sequin Capelet

$248.00
Sold Out

Beautifully preserved Deco era capelet

This is an exceptional high quality piece, made in France

Burnished gold, gold and platinum colored sequins (likely gelatin) chain stitched onto a fine net backing

Borders edged in four rows of deep golden glass beads creating a swirling floral motif

The yoke is constructed in one piece with darts at the shoulders for fit.

A second tier falls beneath the yoke, creating a perfect ruffled drape.

Please note there are no closures. This piece simply drapes over the shoulders.

Maker: Unknown. “Made in France” label

You can see the handwork details on the interior including the original design in pencil and “Vide” (or void in English) penciled on the under layer portion of the net

Condition: Very good/ excellent. minor spots to the interior that do not show through when worn. See photos. I have made no attempts to clean as I assume the sequins are gelatin and it is perfectly lovely as it is. (***Gelatin sequins will melt if steamed or submerged in water.)

Measurements: The measurements below are the actual measurements of the garment. Please allow for ease. Whenever possible the best way to insure a good fit is by comparing the measurements to that of a similar garment in your closet.

Size: OSFM

Length at Center Back: 12.5”

Length in Front: approximately 10” from shoulder to hem

Width: 28” across when measured flat

Mannequin is a size 2 with a 32.5” bust
