1980s Norma Kamali Feather Print Dress, Petite
This is the iconic 1980s does 40s feather print dress from Norma Kamali’s 1983 line for the Jones Apparel Group as seen in the WWD article from 11/16/83 1983. (According to a tweet by Norma Kamali on 10/8/19, it was modelled by Janice Youngren who was in PR at the time.)
Fabricated in Norma Kamali’s feather print on a black rayon/acetate challis with a lovely drape.
Boxy upper fit with a dropped shoulder and roomy sleeves.
Shoulder pads are no longer present, but this dress works beautifully without as well.
Convertible collar.
Fastens down center front with plastic buttons in a concealed placket for a clean look
Two chest pockets
Trumpet flared skirt with gores inset at the hip for that flattering silhouette.
1/4” hem
Merrowed interior seams
*** Comes with the belt pictured. I don’t believe it was original to the dress, but it works well.
